Outlook Express Sending Mails More Than one Time

Do your Outlook Express Sending Mails More Than one Time?

You are facing these situations when you run Outlook Express-

  • The mail message that you sent previously is again sent to the same recipient
  • The message is sending again and again whenever you start Outlook Express
  • The particular message is in Outbox, not moving to ‘sent items’ folder

The Reason may be:

Low disk space in your system! This could be the reason that stuck the message in Outbox and the message is sent automatically to the recipient when you start Outlook Express. The email clients hold a copy of that mail to ‘sent items folder’. In case the disk has lower space or not enough space to carry out the copy process, the message stuck in Outlook is faced by users.

Fix the Issue

That is why tech experts guide users to enhance the disk space on your system:

  • It is good to keep your Recycle Bin empty by deleting unwanted items permanently
  • Create space in the disk by removing unwanted applications
  • After getting confirmation that the message is reach to the recipient, delete it from Outbox
  • Delete the message header and body to reduce the disk space

Remove Messages from Mailbox after Sometime

Visit ‘Tool’ menu and then select ‘Options’

Press the tab ‘Maintenance’ (Under Outlook Express, the feature is replaced by ‘Advanced’ button)

Now activate the appropriate checkbox:

  • Delete messages after (<X>) days after being downloaded. (<X>) implies number of days (at least 5 days)
  • Don’t keep read messages: automatically removes read messages when you quit OE
  • Compact files when there is (<X>) percent wasted space: Automatically it takes 20%

Apply Clean-UP Feature

From drop down menu of ‘File’, select ‘Clean up Files’. The feature helps removing mails from mailbox, but not from Server

Below are Options to Go with:

  • Compact: Deleting wasted space from disk
  • Delete: Deleting message header as well as body
  • Remove Messages: Remove body but keep the header of messages
  • Press ‘Close’ and then ‘Ok’
