1. What is the difference between "Merge PST" and "Join PST" modes in this software?
Both terms mean putting several PST files together. With Similar Folders, matching folders land in one tree (Inbox with Inbox, Contacts with Contacts). With Separate Folder, each source PST stays under its own folder so you can still see where the mail came from. There are also options for contacts only, Inbox only, calendars, tasks, notes, journals, or one folder you pick.
2. Do I need to install Microsoft Outlook on my computer to merge multiple PST files?
Outlook does not have to be installed for the merge itself. After Softaken creates the new PST, open that file in Outlook when you need it. Outlook 2024, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, and Microsoft 365 are supported for opening the result.
3. Does the tool automatically detect and exclude duplicate emails and contacts while merging?
Duplicate emails and contacts are not removed during the merge. Empty folders can be skipped, and you choose whether Deleted Items are included.
4. Can I combine older ANSI PST files with modern UNICODE PST files into a single master file?
Yes, Merge PST Pro can merge both ANSI and Unicode PST files into one Unicode PST. Older ANSI files often faced a 2 GB size limit. The Unicode output is better for large mailboxes and can go much higher (around 50 GB).
5. Can the software merge password-protected or encrypted Outlook PST files?
It works with normal ANSI and Unicode PST files from a local drive. If the PST is password protected, remove the password in Outlook first and then add the file in Merge PST Pro.
6. Can I choose to merge only specific mailbox items such as Contacts or Calendars?
